In February 2023, Paramount Network announced that it has renewed the hit drama series Yellowstone for a sixth season ahead of the season 5 premiere. Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone follows the Dutton family owners of the largest contiguous ranch in the U.S. who are constantly at odds with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Expected Release Date

An official release date for Yellowstone season 6 has not been set yet by Paramount. However, if it follows previous seasons’ schedules, we can likely expect season 6 to premiere in June 2024. Production Details

Creator Taylor Sheridan continues to steer the series. Season 6 is expected to run for around 10 episodes, on par with previous seasons of the show. Executives from MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios will also be heavily involved in bringing the sixth season from script to screen.

What Has Been Said About a Sixth Season

Not much beyond the renewal announcement itself. However, Kevin Costner did tell Entertainment Tonight in November 2022 regarding the show’s future: “I’m aware that this horse we’re riding has a lot left.” So it seems Yellowstone still has a long journey ahead through multiple additional seasons.

Co-creator Taylor Sheridan has previously said he originally envisioned Yellowstone as a 10 to 12 season epic drama exploring multiple generations of the Dutton family similar to Dallas or Dynasty. So while an official season 6 renewal is in place for now, fans can likely expect even more seasons to come in the future as that vision is fully brought to life.
